Because our back door was completely destroyed in the break-in, we obviously had to replace it immediately. The first door split down the side, so we went for the steel reinforced door, to make it harder for the same thing to happen.

It took a little bit of stalking, and standing as still as a statue, but I finally captured our resident bluebird on camera. If I walk underneath the bird house, I can hear the chicks chirping inside.

Green Home Tour with the Himbergers.

We visited a number of homes that have been certified 'green', whether through its use of half-flush toilets (Australia had them years ago, America!), or use of recycled materials (among other things).

Scavenge Raleigh 2011 Winners!

We competed in a scavenger hunt in downtown Raleigh, where we had to solve clues that would lead us to places around town where tokens were hidden. We also had a list of things to get photographs of.

After a little complaining from moi (who thinks it's fair that another team would get credit for a photo that we had and didn't get credit for???), we - meaning Paul, Deborah, and myself - were declared winners! Yay us!

I see these heart-shaped leaves every day on my walk to work. They run along the length of the Tobacco Trail and they make me happy when I see them.

Love really is all around.

Update

First of all, I wanted to apologise for the lack of posts lately. I have a good excuse I promise!
A little while ago, our house was broken into, and our laptop was stolen, among other things. So we haven't had regular internet access since then. I lost all of the photos from our Las Vegas and Grand Canyon trip, but almost everything else had been saved to my external hard drive.
Other pictures I lost included the ones of our garden that I was saving for a big blog post, and ones that were reserved for Picture of the Day. So for the next few posts, I'll be using google images as a stand in for the lost photos.
Please bear with me as I get caught up to date, there are lots of great photos and stories to come!
We had an alarm installed for the house, and we have new, steel-enforced doors. We feel a bit safer, but still worry about leaving the house. We've been lucky to have lots of dogs to look after lately so they've provided a bit more protection as well.
