I kind of cheated because this photo was taken last night, but it was close to midnight, and I wanted to put up more pictures of the snow!

We woke up to a magical winter wonderland.

It looked so beautiful outside. Everything seems to look prettier when it's covered in snow.

Paul built a snowman, and I threw snowballs at him while he did so.

Merry Christmas!

I hope you all have a safe and happy holiday.

I got my Christmas wish, kind of - a white Christmas. It began snowing at around 8pm Christmas night. It was the first time it had snowed on Christmas Day in Raleigh since 1947.

I don't think I've ever seen this many Christmas lights on a whole street, let alone one house!

DIY: Making Garden Christmas Decorations

About a month ago, I helped Dad H repaint some of the wooden Christmas decorations they have for their garden. He had some extra templates, so we decided to make some for our house too. Paul and I each chose a design we liked - me, a Santa, and Paul, 2 snowmen.

Dad H and I went to Lowes to buy some wood. We selected a large piece, which an employee then cut into 3 smaller pieces for us.

When we got home, I traced the templates onto the wood.

Once that was done, Dad H cut out the shapes with his jigsaw. We didn't get it all done in one day - on Thanksgiving Day, Paul helped out.

Paul made himself useful and did some sanding :)

Next we did a white/primer base coat on each piece.

Then I traced on all of the details.

Then the painting began!

Once they were all painted, Paul screwed brackets on the back so that we could stake them in the front yard.

Finished! (Took me long enough!)

We visited the Norman Rockwell Exhibit at The North Carolina Museum of Art. I really enjoyed it. His paintings look like photographs!

We weren't allowed to take photos in the 'Special Exhibits' building of the museum, but we were in the other building. Above is The Cathedral by Auguste Rodin.

Home Project: Our First Christmas Tree!

Paul and I were excited to buy our first Christmas tree as a married couple, especially because it was going to be a real, live one!

We decided to wait until we were back from New York to get one. We had planned on going to a Christmas Tree Farm but Paul kept having to work late, so we just decided to get one from Lowes Hardware, because we were running out of time.
