We were a bit late, but we finally planted Paul's veggie garden not long ago, and they have already grown lots! We have tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, capsicum (peppers), and cucumber.

Happy Independence Day!A group of us spent the afternoon at the quarry, followed by drinks at Kacy and Andrew's.
A huge storm hit in the evening, which gave us an excuse to nap, rather than continue celebrating!

4th of July celebration BBQ ('Cookout' to the Americans) at our house.We bought a kiddie pool and had water guns, water balloons and cornhole for entertainment.
Night ended badly when I hit Brendan - accidentally! - in an unfortunate place with a water balloon. Sorry Brendan!

We went to see the Green Lantern today. I only wanted to see it for Ryan Reynolds, obviously. :)It was good, but I'd recommend waiting for the dvd, and also not watching it with Clayton.

American Father's Day.We started with lunch at Olive Garden, followed by basketball and bocce at the local rec centre. Please note that my colour was blue, and I am obviously closest to the jack :)

Paul ran a race in downtown Durham and came 5th overall! There were a number of pro athletes running so it was a fantastic result!

Our friend Eric is a rep for Harpoon Brewery. He had an event tonight at Carolina Ale House, which is great for us because it means 'free' beer!

Best day at Bonnaroo yet!I left the campsite early to get in line for tickets to the comedy show. In line I got chatting to the girl next to me, Anna, who was from Durham. And she was getting a ticket for her friend, Zack, from Wilmington, who it turns out, I actually knew because he used to live next door to Stella. Small World!
Anna, Zack and I hung out for a little while before the comedy show. We found some shade next to The Other Tent, and listened to a group called Hanggai for awhile. They didn't speak any English, were kind of like an Asian bluegrass band, and were awesome! I love the surprising bands you find at Bonnaroo!
Next up it was time for the comedy - starting with Nate Bergatze and Craig Baldo, followed by Bill Bailey (crazy and hilarious!) and Donald Glover (of Community fame - almost as funny as Chris Rock).
It was finally time to meet up with the others for Alison Krauss, before my reason for going to the 'Roo in the first place - Mumford & Sons.
I got as close to the front as I could, which still wasn't that close, but it didn't even matter because they were worth every dollar spent on my ticket, even if I had been way at the back. I can't begin to describe how amazing they were. They ended their fantastic set with an encore of 'Amazing Grace', joined by Apache Trail and Old Crow Medicine Show - WOW. (Photo above).
I was disappointed they ever had to end, but I was able to grab a couple of songs at Loretta Lynn's set, before going to see the Black Keys. But then it was back to the Which Stage with Callie and Duncan for Buffalo Springfield. I do love me some old school music! Neil Young was loving life, rocking out all over the stage. It was the first time they'd played together in 40 years, and the biggest crowd they'd ever played to.
We only spent a little bit of time at Eminem, who was surprisingly great, because I had to head to the Scissor Sisters show to get a great spot. Which I did! Right up close to the stage. And, like Mumford, they did not disappoint. They had an amazing, high-energy show. So entertaining!
It wasn't until after 3am that I made it back to the campsite (and Callie and I were the first ones back!) but what a great day! The day of my two favourite shows - Mumford & Sons and Scissor Sisters.

Day Two! After a huge line up to get in to Centeroo, Leigh and I headed to the Which Stage to see Bela Fleck and the original line-up of the Flecktones - amazing!We met the others at the main stage to see Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, who were also amazing!
I cut off on my own for a little bit to see Abigail Washburn (with an appearance by Bela Fleck), before meeting back up with the others for Ray LaMontagne. Unfortunately we could only stay at Ray for a little bit, because Florence + the Machine were up next and we didn't want to miss a bit of the Flo action!
After a phenomenal set from the redhead, we were back at the main stage for My Morning Jacket (unimpressive) and Arcade Fire (much better).
I finished the night at Big Boi (from Outkast), while the others stayed a bit longer for Lil' Wayne and Ratatat.

Day One of Bonnaroo!After driving through the night to Manchester Tennessee, we arrived early, and had our campsite set up by midday.
Leigh and I headed into Centeroo to check things out. We briefly stopped at the On Tap Lounge to watch Greensky Bluegrass, then moved to That Tent to see Futurebirds (who I loved) and Freelance Whales. By that time, Alesha, Clif, Callie and Duncan had joined us. We were already covered in dust!
We spent the next few hours taking in the sites of Bonnaroo, including the mushroom fountain and a ride on the ferris wheel.
We ended the night watching Sleigh Bells before heading back to the tents for some much needed sleep.

Do not read this book.It has the worst ending to a novel that I have ever read in my life. It was such a cop-out, almost as if the author had no idea how to end it, so just went with whatever she could muster. Terrible.

Our house at Topsail.We spent the day reading, playing on the beach with Kelly & Doug's son Joshua, catching minnows, and playing card games. We ended the day with a seafood dinner at the Crab Pot with Kim.

Topsail Island for Memorial Day Weekend.The rest of our friends stayed for the week, but we were only able to go for one night.
