For my birthday, Mom & Dad H bought me a washing line. They're rare here, and hard to find, but I really wanted one. I'm not a fan of putting my clothes in the dryer because they always shrink.
Paul wouldn't let me buy a Hills Hoist. He said it was too expensive but I feel like we would have gotten our money's worth out of it - I'd be using it pretty often.
So I was pretty thrilled to unwrap a new washing line from Paul's parents. (It wasn't a Hills Hoist, but it does the job!)
One weekend, not long after my birthday, they came over to help us install it. To be honest, Paul and his Dad did all the work, I just took photos. :)
Deciding on the best place for it to go.
The day we set it up, it was lovely and sunny, but since then, the same spot always seems to be in shade, even if it's a nice day. So, my clothes aren't drying too well (the thicker things like jeans and jumpers at least) but as soon as Spring rolls around, they should dry in no time.
Digging the hole.
Dad H proving he's working just as hard by measuring the depth of the hole.
It's hard work carrying a bucket of dirt!
Hole done, and first part of the washing line in place.
Roxie making sure Paul's mixing the concrete correctly.
Concreting the post into place.
Making sure it will stand straight when the concrete is dry.
We covered up the wet concrete just in case Roxie decided to investigate.
A day later, the concrete has dried and the line can be put up and used!
Yay! Fresh laundry drying in the sun (sort of).
